Slick demo for the simple photo app VSCO Cam™ designed by Visual Supply Co. They also make a set of presets for Lightroom and Aperture that look amazing. Would love to try them out - but hesitant due to the price.
Lovely weather app concept by Thorsten Beeck. Posted on Dribbble as a rebound to another really nice concept.
The Hello app by Evernote. A quick and pretty way to add bare-bones contact info to your phone. They suggest handing over your phone to someone you’ve just met and getting them to fill out the profile. The app also pulls in events from your calendar.
Clear for iPhone. Coming soon. Super simple. Fun. Colourful. Gesture-based. Designed and built by Realmac Software, Milen.me and Impending. Love it.
Pee in Peace is an iPhone app designed for Out for Health by AWP. Essentially it’s a searchable map of all the private unisex restrooms in Ithaca, New York. Their target users include caregivers for people of the opposite sex and transgender people. But it’s really open to anyone who wants a bit of privacy. Great idea. Great execution. Love the open / closed icon.
enRoute is a bilingual print magazine published by Air Canada. I was looking at the latest issue last night and noticed an advertisement for their iPhone app about the best places to eat in Canada. It caught my eye. Pretty fresh looking app.
The Accidental News Explorer for iPhone. Designed and coded by Brendan Dawes. This is a wonderfully simple news app that “celebrates chance encounters and serendipity.” Refined monochromatic palette and clean typography. Also, the type-nerd in me appreciates the light sprinkling of ligatures.
Nice walkthrough tutorial screens for the latest release of the Facebook app for iPhone. Screenshots courtesy of mobile-patterns.com (a great collection of iPhone screenshots curated by Mari Sheibley, one of the designers at FourSquare).
The BBC iPlayer app is now available for iPhone. It looks awesome. There’s a really interesting article that explains their entire design process here. I like their decision to remove the branding from the header bar and instead place it below the UI, so it’s only visible when elements are loading.
iBooks for iPhone by Apple. Once I started looking at these screenshots more closely, I noticed some really lovely details that I hadn’t noticed before.
